I love the differences
that exist in Goshen.

Our downtown still has the anchor businesses that have been part of our community for decades (John Halls, WWEC, Snyder’s Men’s Shop, Snider’s Jewelry, Sorg’s Jewelry, Olympia, etc.) mixed with the new (too many to list).  There is a generation of community members that have been here for 50, 60 and 70 years mixing with the new incoming generation that is the future of Goshen.

I love the different nationalities and families of our town, and the fact that no matter what the differences are, we are able to discuss them and find ways to make those differences work. And, at the end of the day know we are all still neighbors and ultimately want what is best for Goshen.

Meet Brett

I have lived in Goshen my entire life, 47 years this past May. I married my high school sweetheart, Robin, and we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary this August. We have two sons; Lleyton, who is heading off to Heidelberg University in Ohio to begin his freshman year, and Merrill, who will be a senior at Goshen High School, along with two border collies; Lex and Frannie.

I attended Waterford Elementary School, Towncrest Junior High School and Goshen High School. The same schools my father attended and the same schools my children currently attend.

Post high school, I received a Bachelor's in Optometry from Indiana University, Bloomington followed by my Doctor of Optometry in 2001. Robin graduated from Goshen High School and is a Goshen College alum.

I am co-owner of Wellington & Weddell Eye Care located in downtown Goshen. WWEC was founded in 1926 and has been a part of downtown Goshen since its beginning.

As a small business owner, I bring to the table my experience with creating and meeting budgets and the ability to make difficult decisions that directly affect my patients. I am always looking out for my patients’ best interests, just as I am when serving my community.

Over the past 11 years I have provided respectful, thoughtful and steady leadership to the council. I am currently the longest serving member on the council and have represented the council on the Redevelopment Commission and the Traffic Commission for all but one year. With there being transition in the Mayor's office, it is more important than ever to maintain continuity and proven leadership.
